Everytime I post something about my take on the little controversies going on, it creates a spin off that I didn't intend. This usually leads to more discussion and expansion of the topics involved.

Then I end up deleting the original posts because it's hard for me to actually communicate my ideas on this thing (apparently!).

I actually was thinking about the big political red herring of "Gay Marriage" (that is to say, it is a trick issue used to polarize people) and one of the things that really was fuzzy about the whole thing became really clear to me.Read more... )

That's the secret occult power behind economics that the public choice school has only begun to explore, the secret joke that Pareto understood but refused to make explicit (he expected you to get it, to read between his lines... sociology is really economics taken to the next level... but only when it is. what we call "sociology" these days bears as much resemblance as what "medicine" in the ancient world bore to what we have come to expect...)
