Onion Mirrors - Introduction
Oct. 25th, 2006 12:17 pmThere are many well-read folks in my sphere of interaction who are highly interested in Archetypes as their layer of pattern magic. Being well read, this makes sense, as they have a feel and flavor for the time-mirrors of literature and history. They may be slightly less technically inclined, but make up for it in their own language of deep structure.
As for myself, I'm more ... obsessed maybe is not a bad word... by tropes. Tropes are micro patterns that are ineffably familiar and repeat themselves, they might be seen as the building blocks of archetypes. In the Onion Mirrors series of posts I will be exploring the semiotics of various tropes that I find compelling, perhaps surfacing into some familiar archetypes that they are connected to.
Part 1 will be entitled "The Gleam Lets You Know It's Working"*
* out of all my friends,
pharminatrix is one of the few that can nearly seamlessly work with both tropes and archetypes... that phrase (within this context) is her coinage/remix.
