He who contrives defeats his own purpose;
He who grasps loses.

Intent to raise ability,
a tried, tested, pointless view...
God's got security
- Skinny Puppy, Candle
The project of certain elements of humanity to become Godlike beings is doomed. It is merely a matter that, in order to attain their goal, they must lose all the supposed benefit of it, and become utter servants of the pattern. We're "improving" things supposedly and destroying the value of them in the process.
Better I think to improve ourselves in a way that we seek and obtain happiness, in fact even in the most ridiculous fashion. But unfortunately, in a world of the sort we find ourselves, the price for this is drastic. And thus even this goal is lost, the others around us harming us terribly for pursuing irregular and personal happiness. We concede and grow cold and stiff, bit by bit, seeking only stillness and warmth, losing ourselves and becoming mere repetitive cyclic forms, abandoning all that once made us worth existing. And then existence itself ends.
But in this fading fabric, in this clockwork running down, a few of us here and there continue to spark, and light torches in the darkness, and we are crushed out by the world at large, one at a time, but not all at once.
They do not have that capacity yet, nor shall they, for they too must read by the light of our flame.
