If you are using AVG anti-virus, the latest virus algorithm as of 10/1/08 picks up zlib.dll as a trojan horse, but it's bogus.
Winamp in particular will continue to crash as long as the AVG resident shield is in place. Turn off the resident shield for now.
The AVG people are working on fixing their virus heuristics as of right now.
