a friend told me another wonderful Poppy Bush story illustrating the point, which he heard when he got the chance to be poppy's stage stand-in for setting up the podium at the opening of the toyota tundra plant in San Antonio.

while arranging things, the stagehand explained that apparently every event Poppy attends where he's going to speak has to have a podium so he'll know where to stop and talk. If given an empty stage, he will walk right across it.
