I can't help but wonder whether the fact that I've pretty much destroyed any chance to have a "normal" life by now is a curse or a blessing.

There's really no answer, it's my own personal koan, I suppose... :)

My daoist answer is that I'm gonna go with this and see where it takes me.

Most things about living in today's society are absurd and unnatural.
At least you're spending your time here getting to the root of who you are and what is truly important, as opposed to spending it putting on a show for everyone else.
