I found this pretty interesting, what do you folks think?

"Don’t worry about about your personality. You don’t really have one. Personality, like ego, is a concept invented by your mind. It doesn’t exist in the real world. Personality is a word for the general impression that you give through your words and actions. If your personality isn’t likeable today, don’t worry. You can always change it, so long as you allow yourself to do so. What fixes someone’s personality in one place is a determined effort on their part - usually through continually telling themselves they’re this or that kind of person and acting on what they say. If you don’t like the way you are, make yourself different. You’re the only person who’s standing in your way."

- Adrian Savage

I'd add that he makes it sound too easy. (for well-meaning purposes) Other people will try to manipulate you into maintaining a consistent personality by projecting images of how they see you back at you, statements like "oh you're one of ___ kind of people" or the like. Not only that but the psycho-architecture of your life will also send subtle signals at you telling you who you are, because it's been constructed from who you were. So the key to being able to do this is to learn to override what other people and things tell you about yourself. It's useful to listen to these signals, as a guide for what to change, or keep, and also as an explanation of how others see you right now. But don't believe your environment when it tries to tell you who you are. All it can tell you is who you were.

Right now I'm actually working on de-linking certain positive behavioral habits from material focii. Dropping the magic feather so to speak.

Joel Osteen and his ilk are looking to get all kinds of people to blame themselves for their problems and to accept whatever crap we are fed with a smile on our faces and a song in our hearts. “You’re dying of pancreatic cancer? Look on the bright side. The man who died from it yesterday would love to be in your shoes!”
