When you see the people doing what appear to be outlandish, ridiculous things and getting away with it, these are actually the only serious people left.
The rise of irony is, as unpleasant as it may be, a cleansing process. The onion is telling the real news.
Everyone else is going through the motions, aware that their game is already over, but they don't know what else to do with themselves yet, or they're afraid of being punished for doing something else. We all are. It's scary to participate in the upsurge of human freedom without this pretense. I know, every time I go out as myself into the world.
I had my reasons for burning my bridges to that larger game. I may suffer for it from time to time now, but by putting myself into the corner, my real self was trying to save me.
And it did.
Now it's up to me to keep reinforcing myself, all the time, forever and ever. To take a bit more territory back, where and when I can.
