P: Well, I guess she must have been raped repeatedly or something to have such a demoniacally negative opinion of the male sex. Fine, I'll die alone and the world will continue its descent down the toilet into chaos. Just lovely.
A: The "male sex" (a concept that needs deconstructing in a big way, but we'll take it at conventional value) has not been very worthwhile except as a sperm donor, until very recently.
Morally there's no justification for the way they have behaved vis a vis the "not male sex" historically.
You can call for a truce, but you certainly can't ask for acceptance of the past behaviors as "proper".
(A is me, btw)
P: Fuck you too, sugarplum.

Ever notice how misogynists who complain about not getting any never seem to recognize that their own attitude might be putting the ladies off?

Not to mention the ones who have the gall to say that women who aren't interested in them must have been repeatedly "raped" or "molested" [I hear this a lot] because nothing else could possibly explain the ladies' refusal to fulfill their sacred purpose as passive ego-supports and sperm receptacles. AND ALSO even had the woman in question been through such a hideous experience, that would mainly be A BUMMER FOR HIM.

Poor wubby. He cannot get laid, all because of these crazy, damaged ladies, all getting raped and turned off of men. Naturally the end of the world must ensue.

What is up with yesterday? I've been participating in/hearing about rape apologist arguments all over the place.

Yeah, I get really turned off to some feminists' approach to trans issues and to males in general...and then I read exchanges like yours above, or see hateful ad campaigns like Bacardi's here (http://jezebel.com/5296935/bacardi-ad-uses-misogyny-to-sell-alcohol-to-women), and I don't know what to call myself except feminist, because this shit is uncalled for.

wow. there's so much out-of-wack with that conversation.

The one that springs to mind the most, however, is that "should a woman truly have a demoniacally negative opinion of the male sex because of some hideous traumatic experience, then wouldn't that mean that perhaps you, as a male, ought to perhaps have a bit of sympathy for such a beleaguered female? or is it really just ALL ABOUT YOU?"

Call me crazy but I have met some women who have been through seven shades of hell at the hands of a man (or several) and yet still somehow manage to still fall in love with and be with a very special man they managed to find who would not give up and fall into that stereotypical visage of "you have good reason to avoid men? WELL FUCK YOU TOO!" and instead decided said woman was worthy of their patience and caring and gentility.

I know, I expect SO MUCH Of men. I must hate them all. 'strue

This. So very concise, wraps up so many crimes in a neat ribbon; because if you're a woman you're not male, obviously, but you're also at risk of being "not male" if for any reason, sexual or otherwise, you break one of the many taboos of masculinity.

It sounds like people are recovering from oxygen deprivation.
