there are days when work feels like the Worst.RPG.Evar.

On a hopefully not related note, if you're ever in the mood for something truly depressing, you can play the second half of Pink Floyd's The Wall first, and the first half second.  Such that it starts with "Hey You" and ends with "Goodbye Cruel World".
It tells a very different, but equally coherent and much more disheartening story.

I was discussing "what video games can teach us" with a friend a while back, and we discussed that many games can improve hand/eye coordination and reflexes, playing RPGs improved one's patience for jumping through hoops and dealing with Bureaucracies.

I often think of this when playing RPGs &/or dealing with Bureaucracies.

lol. At my job I feel like the NPC who gives the hero a side quest before he can enter the castle.

At work, I used to be the Plucky Ancilla. Now it feels more like Sara Crewe.

The Wall was the best Valentine's Day present I ever received. It was from my dad, and I was 11.

Man, remember the drama of listening to double albums? Dang. Between The Wall and Quadrophenia, it's a miracle I ever left my room when I was in middle school.

In an attempt at a similar conceit, try GBV's Universal Truths and Cycles starting with "Everywhere With Helicopter" and ending with "Factory of Raw Essentials".

Burnt out on Floyd at age 20 after sitting through the wall 20000 times. I like some of the cuts and overall sound of the album (Bob Ezrin rocks), but Waters lyrics grate after awhile. Well, his voice. I still love Meddle, and will gladly listen to the whole thing again and again. As well as Barrett-era stuff. I like cuts off of the DSOTM, WYWH and Animals trilogy, but don't ever want to hear any of them in their entirety again.

Have you found the instruction to write to Old Pink care of the funny farm, yet?
