While I don't know for sure what other people's internal reactions actually are, it seems possible to me that one of the things that throws people off when they deal with me, is that my most common emotional reaction to other people is curiousity.
And since most people work off of intuitively "reading" other people, they might not be able to process my facial and body language reactions well.

Not sure, just a thought...

I buy that, definitely. Especially in group situations my default behavior is often to sit back and observe what the other monkeys are doing (if they're interesting, otherwise I just tune out or leave). This has made people think I'm any of confused, bored, irritated, or stuck up.

Why should we have to learn to live in a non-autistic world when they can't learn to live in an autistic one?

Social cues are the death of free thought. Fuck it if they expect you to understand the subliminals. Since being direct is dead we might as well be the zombies of the new world. Or something.
