it's funny how people haven't become crazy anti-car freaks the way they have with drugs, since almost everyone knows someone that died in a car accident.

I come at it from a slightly different perspective. While I don't know the exact environmental impact of the drugs I use (multiplied by the times/amounts I use them), I do know the environmental impact of my car, and it's a burden that weighs on me every time I drive.

food for thought: the UN climate change panel that recently won the Nobel Prize also confirmed that the meat industry (beef in particular) contributes more to global warming than all fossil-fuel transportation combined.
